A Club With A Lot of Heart

The Mt Vernon Lodge in Winter Park became the Jazz Fest/Love Fest on Friday, February 8, 2008 as the Winter Park Toastmasters Club # 3674 celebrated Valentines Day a little early.  The Toastmaster of the Day, Lynda Miller worked her magic on the room, bringing elaborate backdrops, faux chandelier and even a Cupid outfit for the Grammarian.  All attendees were encouraged to don flapper dresses (for the ladies of course) and fedora hats for the gents.

This is not your typical meeting, but this is also not your typical Club.  They have an average attendance of 40 members every Friday morning from 7:30am till 9:00am.  The Club is open to all and visitors from other Clubs are encouraged to come by anytime!

Toastmaster of the Day, Lynda Miller shares a moment at the lectern with Club President Paul Twyford.  "Lynda always goes above and beyond with the decor whenever she's slated for TM of the day" says Twyford.  "We always make efforts to keep our meetings lively."

From Cupid to cuties, the theme took hold of everyone involved.  Table topics covered many aspects of love from skepticism to romance to the lifelong journey.

All of the prepared speeches for the day involved romance as well.  Okay, except perhaps the speech about "dog lovers" and their crazy owners? 

Cupid's arrow recently hit the hearts of certain Winter Park members.  Area 33 Governor Jeffrey Rufenacht hinted about such a change in his own life as he gave his Table Topic.  But darn it if he didn't give a good enough clue as to who he was talking about!
