Proxies - Clarified |
|
The following should clarify any questions regarding voting proxies for
Clubs - Submitted by Lt Governor of Education & Training - David
Hollingshead, DTM The proxy you received via U.S. Mail from Toastmasters International is the proxy for your clubs' votes for the Regional and the International Conferences. If you or a representative of your Club are not able to attend the Regional and/or the International Conferences, those proxies should be signed and given to either your Division Governor, Lt Governor of Marketing, Lt Governor of Education & Training or District Governor. Any of those officers will be able to vote at those conferences on your Club's behalf. There are two ways your club can vote during the District business meeting at the District Conferences. Either your Club's President or VPE can appear at the business meeting, where they will be given the Clubs' two votes which they may cast during the business meeting. If neither the club President nor the club VPE can attend, any club member may appear and be given the two club votes to cast provided they provide a District proxy signed by the club President or VPE giving them the right to represent your club at that meeting. The proxy can be downloaded from the District 47 website at the link http://toastmastersd47.org/site/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/proxy_spring_2008_revised-nov-17-2007.doc . Regardless, someone from your club must physically attend the meeting in order for your club to be able to cast your votes. Just to ensure you are aware however, the division of District 47 into a northern District (84) and southern District (47) is past tense and becomes official on July 1st of this year. The Board of Directors of Toastmasters International approved this during the August 2006 Board Meeting. Thus, a consideration over whether the district will be divided will not be part of the business meeting. Election of officers for the districts will be, as well as any business which any member may raise from the floor. |
