DIVISION "C" INTERNATIONAL SPEECH AND TABLE TOPICS CONTEST!!!

On Thursday, March 13th, 2008, nearly 100 members of Division C's Clubs cheered for their Area contestants in the beautiful Rollins College Bush Auditorium.  Prior to the contest, Contest Chairman Debbie Piccirello (Conqueror's Club) and Chief Judge Paul Twyford (Winter Park TM) conducted briefings with all contestants and functionaries. 

Many volunteers are needed in order to ensure that these events run smoothly and fairly.  

Chief Judge Paul Twyford demonstrates the timing lights for the audience.  "Just kidding" he assures them, since the actual timing lights were much larger for a room of this size.  Paul continually injects humor not only in outside events, but at his own Club, Winter Park Toastmasters. 

How successful can Raffle Masters make a 50/50 drawing be?  Ask John Todero of the Conquerors Club.  Here, Governor Hoehn awards John $113 which is half of the funds collected to help defer costs of these events.  The raffle team included Jacki Bick and Mitesh Smart, also members of the Orlando Conquerors.  All funds are greatly appreciated!

The use of the Bush Auditorium at Rollins College was sponsored by the Crummer business school of Rollins College, which is the home of Crummer @ Rollins Toastmasters Club.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!

So Who Won, you ask???

Congratulations to 1st Place Winner International Speech Contest,
Andrew Greenstein of the Orlando Conquerors (Club 1066).

Dennis Gola (center) of Orlando Toastmasters (Club 28), won the 1st Place trophy in the Table Topics Contest.  Presenting the trophy are District 47's Lt. Governor of Marketing Ron Parpart, DTM and Division C Governor Scott Hoehn II, DTM.
 

The second place winners, both outstanding in their performances, will be backup speakers at the District Conference in the event that either of the first place winners are unable to compete.  Terry Patten and Dennis Wooldridge
