Even MORE Club Officers Trained in Area 17!

In an effort to ensure that ALL Club Officers in Area 17 were able to receive training, Area Governor Katherine Cockrell arranged a makeup training session in Ocala.  On Saturday, February 9, 2008, 19 Officers assembled at the Maricopa Church of Christ to receive in-depth sessions for their respective offices.

Governor Cockrell not only coordinated the event, provided refreshments and prepared certificates for the facilitators, but she also gave a powerful session on the Offices of Club President and Club Secretary!

Area 17 is fortunate to have such a dedicated District officer working with them.  "What can I say?  I love my Clubs!" said Cockrell.  Don't miss Area 17's speech contest!

"Your presence here today speaks volumes about your dedication to your Clubs' members" Division C Governor Scott Hoehn, DTM tells the group.  "The finest Clubs in Toastmasters have one thing in common...effective leaders who care!"

Governor Hoehn challenged each officer to commit to doing just three things in addition to their regular duties to make a big difference for their Clubs.  What three things?  Click here for examples

The Ocala Area is fortunate to have many seasoned Toastmasters who are always willing to advise.  John Ryan, DTM is an active member of FOUR Clubs and gave very strong pointers to those holding the offices of  Vice Presidents of Education and Sgt-At-Arms.

John is a steadfast recruiter for new members as well.  Recently he received a special pin from Toastmasters International to acknowledge his personal sponsorship of FIVE NEW members!  Congratulations John!

John's wife, Lynda Ryan, DTM  gave the presentation on Vice President of Membership.  The tips she gave all officers will definitely increase the membership rosters.  In addition, Lynda gave great advice on how to ensure that the current members remain happy and well...they remain!

Lynda has held most Club offices and several District offices over the years.  She is also active on the Realignment Committee for the upcoming split of District 47/84.  Her involvement is greatly appreciated throughout the District.

Vicki Iozzia, DTM  loves telling the world about Toastmasters!   Here presentation on Vice President of Public Relations gave exciting tips on using the free websites available at FreeToastHost.org

Vicki gave an additional presentation on the Club Treasurer position.  "The timely filing of Club dues is critical to keeping your Club in good standing with Toastmasters International."   There are many ways to make it easy for members to submit their payments.  PayPal may be an answer for your Club?  Vicki's experience made it easy for officers  to grasp a sometimes challenging position.

Our special thanks to ALL who attended this session (most of whom are pictured below) and especially to Katherine Cockrell for putting it together!  By the way ALL Clubs in Area 17 have now achieved another Distinguished Club Program goal.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!   (Photo by Vicki Iozzia)
